Accelerated orthodontics combines a customized orthodontic plan with carefully selected methods that may support progress toward a straighter smile. The right approach depends on your teeth, bite, health, and response to treatment, so results and timing vary. At Portal Family Dentistry & Orthodontics, we explain your options and help you choose a plan that fits your life.
• Treatment begins with an individual exam and a plan built around your needs.
• VPro5 may be considered as an add on, but it does not replace orthodontic care.
• A conversation with Dr. Salas can help you understand what is realistic for you.
The Secret to Faster Results: How Accelerated Orthodontics Works
How accelerated orthodontics works
Accelerated orthodontics refers to approaches intended to support tooth movement during orthodontic treatment. It does not mean skipping steps or promising a set finish date. Braces or clear aligners still guide your teeth into healthier positions, while your treatment plan accounts for your bite, the amount of movement needed, and how your teeth respond.
At our Katy office, we start with an exam and a conversation about your goals. Dr. Salas may use our own CT and cone beam CT scanners when imaging is appropriate. These tools help him assess your teeth and supporting structures so your plan reflects your needs, rather than a one size fits all formula. What can affect your treatment pace?
Your starting bite, the movements needed, and your body’s response all matter. Following instructions also counts. For example, aligners need to be worn as directed, and braces require good home care and regular visits. These everyday habits help keep treatment on track, but they do not guarantee a particular timeline. What VPro5 can and cannot do
VPro5 is a device that may be used as an addition to an orthodontic plan. It is not a substitute for braces, aligners, or checkups, and it cannot promise faster results on its own. If you are curious about VPro5, ask Dr. Salas whether it makes sense for your case and what role it would play.
We focus on explaining the purpose, limits, and responsibilities of any option before you decide. Accelerated orthodontics still depends on a sound treatment plan and follow through. We will discuss what you can expect, how to use any recommended device, and whether another approach may suit you better. The goal is clear information, not pressure.
How we decide if it belongs in your plan
Dr. Salas is a Board Certified Orthodontist with the American Board of Orthodontics. He earned his D.D.S. from the Venezuelan Central University in Caracas in 2002, then completed orthodontic specialty training and a master’s degree at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 2008. He is also an Invisalign Platinum+ provider and invented GusAligners, clear aligners made in house.
That experience supports careful conversations about treatment choices, but your exam guides the recommendation. VPro5 may be discussed when appropriate, with practical guidance on how it fits your plan. It does not replace the steps needed to move teeth safely. Our team will also explain how braces and aligners differ. You can compare braces or Invisalign before your visit.
Who may consider accelerated orthodontics?
Adults and teens may ask about accelerated orthodontics when they want to understand their options. Age alone does not decide whether treatment is suitable. The condition of your teeth and gums, your bite, and the movements needed all matter. We offer care for different ages, including adult orthodontic care.
For children, an early orthodontic evaluation can help identify developing bite concerns. It does not mean every child needs treatment right away. Families can read about child orthodontic visits and bring questions to an appointment.
We will talk through your priorities, including appearance, comfort, home care, and scheduling. Accelerated orthodontics is not right for every person, and some cases may call for a different approach. If you have a dental concern alongside orthodontic needs, our team can help you understand which care should come first. The best choice follows an in person exam, not a timeline claim online.
