About Salas
Gustavo Salas, D.D.S., M.S, is a Board Certified Orthodontist serving patients of all ages at Portal Family Dentistry & Orthodontics in Katy, Texas. Known for his forward-thinking, he enjoys solving oral health issues, especially when it comes to straightening teeth.
Dr. Salas received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2002 from the Venezuelan Central University in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed orthodontic specialty training and received a master’s degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in Houston, Texas, in 2008.
He is Board Certified Orthodontist by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) and has been named Houston’s Top Dentist by H Texas Magazine for the last 10 years.
Dr. Salas provides patients with his very own clear aligners called GusAligners made in-house. As an inventor, he is in the developmental stage of creating his own brand of AcceleDent therapy, which straightens teeth 50% faster than braces.

Dr. Salas is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. Since moving to Texas, he considers it an honor and a joy to be active in the Houston communities. He enjoys establishing relationships with all of his patients and giving them the best oral health care to help them look and feel their best.
When he is not working, he spends as much time as he can with his wife and children. He also enjoys staying active as a Crossfitter for more than 6 years, as well as biking, running, participating in water sports, and playing Pickleball.
